James had directed a lot of TVC and Short Films covering Taiwan and MainlandChina markets.

 

Su used to live in Beijing from 2011 to 2014 with works exhibiting fineness and humanity. After years of living in mainland and overseas, his productions started to become more direct and heavier, and gradually developed a tendency of modernism to explore the movie language.

 

In 2019, he worked on the “Summer”, a mainland China-Taiwan co-production long feature film and also for the first time created a short feature film, “Nine Shots”.

1982 年生於台北，國立臺灣藝術大學應用媒體藝術研究所藝術碩士（M.F.A.），主修電影編導。蘇哲賢的作品風格游刃於紀錄片與劇情片之間，擅長透過鏡頭捕捉次文化、社會議題與藝術家的生命狀態。

2010 年，年僅 27 歲以首部電影作品《街舞狂潮》一舉奪下第 47 屆金馬獎最佳紀錄片，成為該獎項史上最年輕的得主。該片於台、港兩地院線發行，戮力與觀眾對話，奠定其在台灣影壇的出發。

蘇哲賢具備深厚的電影美學素養與跨國歷練。曾旅居北京（2011-2019），並於 2017 年獲國藝會資助，前往德國柏林與法國巴黎進行前衛電影與歐陸蒙太奇研究，同時完成中南半島移民在歐洲的田野調查。這段經歷使其作品不僅具備在地關懷，更擁有與國際對話的影像語言。

從關注人權議題的紀錄長片《進擊之路》、到跨國製作的劇情長片《野夏天》，蘇哲賢持續挑戰多元題材。2024 年，其執導的國際頻道 TaiwanPlus《鬼才》（Rebel Artist）系列紀錄片，榮獲 2024 亞洲影藝創意大獎（Asian Academy Creative Awards）台灣區冠軍，並入圍 2025 紐約電視獎（New York Festivals TV & Film Awards），展現其駕馭國際級製作的精湛實力。受邀擔任第 58 屆金馬獎及2021 台北電影節競賽評審。
